Water Treatment System Sizing Guide
Flow rate, household demand and plumbing determine the right size.
Capacity and service flow answer different questions
Softener capacity describes how much hardness can be removed between regenerations; service flow describes how much water can pass through while meeting the design objective. For carbon, contact time and media volume matter alongside pressure loss. For RO, production and storage should suit drinking-water demand.
Record incoming hardness or the relevant test, household use, fixtures, pressure and pipe size. Then compare the rated equipment performance with simultaneous demand. A four-bedroom label is not a design calculation. Ask the provider to write down assumptions so future occupancy changes can be addressed.
